Have a Second Cup, Gorgeous

IMG_5004Remember when I told you about Operation Beautiful and the Daily Challenge? Well, let me tell you, they’re both up to more good!

These two movements have so much in common: They started with a good idea, they put that idea into action, and they expected nothing in return.

Let me give you a quick update:

Operation Beautiful: The mission of Operation Beautiful is to post anonymous notes in public places for other women to find. Post-it notes with positive messages are popping up all over the place. Check out www.operationbeautiful.com for example after example about how people all over the world are reminding complete strangers about their inner and outer beauty. Catlin, the beauty and brains behind this movement just landed a book deal to tell her story. Congratulations, Catlin!

Daily Challenge: Daily Challenge is an inspired social network of do-gooders who do small daily acts of kindness in their communities. In Ontario today they are celebrating Pay-It-Backward Day. Do-gooders can go to one of over 170 Second Cup coffee shop locations and offer to “pay it backward” by buying coffee for the person behind them in line. With each simple act of “coffee kindness” a $5 donation to the SickKids Foundation will be made. Do One Good and their sponsors, Second Cup and Silk Soy Beverage, hope to inspire 2,000 acts of kindness to reach their goal of  $10,000 for SickKids Foundation today.

How can we participate:

  • Let’s make someone’s day by posting a note or two Operation Beautiful-style with an inspiring note for some lucky person to stumble upon.
  • Let’s participate in Pay-It-Backward day whether we live in Ontario or not. Let’s challenge ourselves to pay-it-backward someway, somehow. Buy the coffee for the person behind you or just go out of your way to do one good for someone else today.

After all:

“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” ~ John Bunyon

Now, how about a cup of coffee, gorgeous?

I love both of these projects. The pay it backwards is ingenious! I could do this while standing in line at the grocery store. With seven kids you can imagine what my cart looks like. Next time, if the poor soul behind me has less than I do (pretty safe bet) then I’ll offer to let them go in front of me!

What great ways to give back!! And so easy to do! And what a wonderful quote to really think about…

These people are very creative. The pay it backward sounds like fun. I’ve done this in the grocery store with kids paying for their candy. They looked at me like I was from another planet. The operation beautiful is desperately needed. Too many women and girls worship stars who are thin and physically beautiful.

Awe this is so wonderful! I love giving back to people! I love giving someone my fresh baked goods or just doing something for them. This reminds me sooo much of my mother! I miss her!

We all need to learn to love ourselves more too!

Very much so.We should try to help as many people as possible. It can vary from giving away , money, clothes, time or service. We should give up our time to help other who cannot help themselves. great post.

What a kind gesture… I mean with everything going on that some experience on different levels than others, a note saying you can make it or whatever can be just what the doctor ordered.
