My husband had a gift card from last Christmas. Making online purchases helped not at all since they only take gift cards in person at local businesses. He asked me if I could help him spend it, so I decided to oblige him. We went to a Chinese art of foot care, and he saved his gift card by using it before it expired, and took care of buying me a series of 10 sessions for my Christmas present. His shopping was all done, I was happy, and the end of the matter was satisfactory for all.

Hi Joanne. I spend most of my year struggling as a single parent, constantly having to pay out for the increasing purse that 2 teenagers are and keeping roof and food on plate, and I never buy myself anything, but I dont mind. I am happy that they have what they need and that brings me joy and a sense of achievement that they dont go without. Now I find, as usual, at this time of year, I get pleasure out of buying nice, thoughtful gifts for family and friends, and I always buy with the notion that it is something I would really appreciate or love myself. Your article was so timely, as only the other day I thought to myself 'why dont you treat yourself to a gift too some time' and dont feel guilty. Because that is the feeling I get if I dare pick anything up with the intention of buying for myself. And that is how I am going to pamper myself today. I saw a lovely red top the other day that I really liked, whilst out buying gifts for others, picked it up several times and put it down, not being able to justify why I should buy this for myself. But you are so right. Why do we not treat ourselves to that nice top, or good hand cream, good candle and only reserve it for others. I will succeed in pampering myself today, by walking straight into that shop, picking up that lovely red top to wear over the holiday, and buying it, without guilt, without putting it down a few times again, or thinking about it.

Pampering...hmmmm...in my DREAMS, I would be able to get a nice, long massage! But I might have to settle for a nice, long bath :-) I'd love to have a soy candle burning along with the bath!

For pampering...I am going to enjoy turning 39 tomorrow - by taking the day off of work -letting my hair be curly- wearing sweats- and just being me.:)

To pamper myself, I am going to let myself sleep in this weekend. I normally set an alarm every day of the week, but things have been so hectic lately that I have been pushing back bedtime each night (but still getting up crazy early). So this weekend, I will get out of bed whenever I finally wake up, despite my long list of 'to-dos'.
