A Lyon in the Den

I’m training more and more with resistance bands these days at home, at the gym, and when I travel. In fact, when I was on vacation a few weeks ago I stayed at a hotel that didn’t have a gym! GASP! Thankfully, I had a few resistance bands making it easy for me to head outside for quick workout.

A few steps outside of my hotel room door was a park with one of those wooden obstacle courses, you know the kind you see along trails or on the beach sometimes? Well, most of the stations were as mystical to me as Stonehenge so I improvised. A lot.

Personal trainer, author, and cover model Kim Lyons is launching her new Gym in a Bag tonight on QVC. I do not have the Gym in a Bag (yet!) but based on the this video I found on Fast Track to Fat Loss, it would have made my No-Gym-In-A-Hotel experience even better…

From what I understand, the Gym in a Bag has the only grip-free resistance bands with Flexsolate straps instead of handles which isolate your muscles more effectively. In addition to the resistance bands the kit also contains a lifting bar, wrist and ankle cuffs, a door attachment, and a DVD helping you power thorough upper and lower body workouts.

I’m going to tune into QVC tonight at 8:00 EST for a few more training tips and to learn all about what’s included in Kim’s gym bag!

Now I really must go get ready to call into QVC for this special value and clear a spot for a Lyon in my den!

Do you do reminder calls? 10 years in TX and I still forget that Im in the central timezone :) I LOVE the promise of this for myriad reasons (presents for loved ones who are always asking me to “make them” a home gym kit. make them?! uh, no. not my skillset people. Plus I always yammer at you how Im stuck in the domicile because the child is sick).
CANT WAIT to check it out.

I like the handles on that band! I wonder the cost.

And this question too: Did she get kicked off TBL for always NOT winning? Seems like her peeps never won at weigh-ins that much. Could that be the REAL reason why she’s not on anymore?? Just wondering.

I love using resistance bands to superset when working out myself!! I didn’t even know Kim Lyons was still around!

This is great idea! Didn’t Kim Lyons use to be on the Biggest Loser for a season?

At LaBoxing sometimes we use resistance bands when we circuit train. It is a great tool to get some bad ass arms. :)

Wow, those look great. I have some resistance bands and love using them, but I don’t care for the handle as it tends to dig into my skin at times and aggravate my carpal tunnel. These look much better. Will be interested to see them tonight on QVC. Thanks for bringing this product to our attention, Joanna.

Uh-oh, another reason to watch QVC. The husband is gonna kill me ;) Seriously, looks very cool and easy to use!

I think QVC is great and those bands look great too!

Oooh! I’ll have to check out that “gym in a bag.” That would be great for my long, cold winters stuck indoors!

I like the handle on those bands. Now, I’m gonna be dreaming of the beach all day!

I have followed Kim since she was showing up in Oxygen Women’s Fitness mag & then that 1 season on TBL. That gym in a bag sounds cool! I will be eager to hear what you think of it! I always take bands with me when I travel just in case!

Cool. I carry my resistance bands with me when I travel. Now what I wouldn’t give to be standing on that beach right about now. It’s a brisk 21 degrees where I’m at.

What a clever idea. Once again, I should have thought of it! When I am on vacation I usually don’t workout, but if I did a lot of traveling for my job, this would for sure be on my wish list! Sometimes I use the gym in the hotel, but most often they are tiny and not very nice. I also use the furniture to do push-ups and sit-ups, but the bands are my favorite!

That is a very clever idea, will definitely check it out! I need some good guidance on what exercises to do in my home “gym” so the DVD sounds like the ticket. And the thought that it all comes in a bag for storage is huge, I am tripping over my equipment because my toddler keeps dragging it out of the corner where it’s currently stashed.

resistance bands are great and they are so easy to take in a suitcase and use in a hotel room if you go away! very easy to follow vid, I tell my clients all the time about the beauty of resistance bands!!

Thanks for the heads up. I try to steer clear of QVC or else risk debt, but I think I’ll make an exception. I love my resistance bands, but I’m intrigued by these, too.

Cool! I wondered what happened to Kim with the Biggest Loser, just like the above posted.

Love the blog! Looking forward to coming by more!

Resistance bands were considered a poor workout years ago. I guess the pendulum has swung on this. I bet I have some in a closet somewhere in the house. Maybe I should give them another chance.
