It’s a little known fact that David Letterman and I share the same birthday. Before you start singing, let me just tell you our birthday is NOT today. David and I also share a love of creating Top 10 lists. Only mine aren’t quite as funny.
When Tanya invited me to share with her readers my TOP 5 Food Finds in 2009 on her site today, I jumped at the opportunity. But I didn’t want Letterman to show me up so I had to come up with another 5 things to round out the list and give you the…
Fitness & Spice Top 5 Kitchen Gadgets of Oh-Nine
1. The Magic Bullet. It should come as no surprise to you that I love this blender so I thought I’d just mention it first and get it out of the way. If I
had a list in 2006, 2007, and 2008 the Magic Bullet blender would have made those lists, too. I predict (as Johnny Carson would do) that this blender will make my 2010 list as well.
2. Tassimo Single Serving Coffee Maker. This is where it all began.I wrote about this coffee maker on my very first blog post ever and it has been giving me energy to write for you day in and day out ever since. And speaking of coffee, I love this…
3. Coffee Sleeve. I received this HandiSeeve from the Container Store for Christmas…thanks, Mom & Dad! I feel like quite the do-gooder when I remember to bring it to Starbucks and ask them to “hold the sleeve”. I am certain I’ve reduced my carbon footprint by a few feet just by owning this sucker.
4. Brita Water Filter. I have one of those Brita water filters that attaches to my kitchen faucet. Someday I’ll have one of those fancy built in filtration systems, but for now I’m quite happy with my current set up. It’s nice to have filtered water at my fingertips for cooking, shakes, coffee, tea, and just a plain ole tall drink of water.
5. Chefmate Safe Cut Can Opener. I ate my share of pumpkin puree last year and my can opener made it all possible. This is one of those can openers that removes the lid with a smooth edge that way no one gets hurt. That, and you can sort of snap the lid back on the can and store what you don’t use in the fridge for when you really need a Pumpkin & Spice latte.
Now you really must go visit Tanya while I go tell David I want an ice cream maker for our birthday.

January 7th 2010I still have the old school Brita pitcher. Really should invest in the faucet attachment as it’d save so much space in the crowded fridge. Don’t have a magic bullet, but I finally got a coffee grinder for my flax seed. The bullet may be next!
