My nutrition goal for the new year is to add more variety to my diet. I’m starting with vegetables.
I eat a lot of vegetables but mostly spinach, broccoli, and green peppers. If only our environment were as green as my meals!
This week I have been mixing in a few sugar snap peas and an occasional carrot. Baby steps. But, as a result, I think my wok has gotten more use this year than my Magic Bullet! I love the simplicity and speed of stir-frying vegetables. Sure, you can get all fancy with a real recipe or just fire up the wok and make…
A Stir-Fry to Bragg About
- 1 T Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Mixed vegetables
- Shrimp or chicken (If you’re into that!)
- Salt to taste
- Braggs Liquid Aminos Seasoning to taste
Fire up your wok, add your EVOO, toss in your protein, and cook thoroughly. Add your vegetables to the wok and season with salt and Braggs, stirring continuously until your vegetables are cooked to your liking. Enjoy every bite.
It was April that first introduced me to Braggs Liquid Aminos All Purpose Seasoning. And when my coach, Krista, said Braggs was an approved seasoning for my nutrition plan I was thrilled! Bragg’s is a great alternative to soy sauce and, get this, it contains 16 amino acids!
The ingredients in Braggs? Just vegetable protein from soybeans and purified water. That’s it! It contains no preservatives, no alcohol, and no gluten. It does contain a bit of sodium so if you’re watching your intake go easy on the Braggs…just give your food a wind breaker, not a heavy coat. Besides, I think the wok has some sort of magical powers that results in some of the best tasting vegetables so there’s no need to overdose them with too many extra flavors.
Now I really could Bragg on and on, but it’s time for me to take a wok.

January 6th 2010You had me at WOK. I want one sooooo bad. Seriously, my husband will eat just about anything if I just call it a Stir Fry. (and you have a magic bullet?? Jealous. They have a new supersize one now – saw the infomercial when I was up with the flu. Kind of food-processor sized).

January 6th 2010So how much is “a bit” of sodium? When I was in 2nd grade or so, my mom was told she needed to watch her salt, so she cut out added salt in our diets (since she cooked for all of us) and now I really can’t stand the taste of it, plus what it does to my body. I’d be willing to try this if the sodium was reasonable. And mmmm….. stir fry!

January 6th 2010I’ve never heard of Braggs. What does it taste like? Is it a soy sauce alternative that tastes just like soy sauce? Or is there a different flavor? Do you use it on any other foods besides stir-fry? Sounds interesting.
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says:
January 6th 2010I love Braggs! Discovered it when I was in college. But yeah, it can get kind of salty if you use too much!

January 6th 2010Never heard of that either! I don’t have a wok, but would sure use one if I had it. I think I’d like an electric one as my stove doesn’t seem to get hot enough to stir fry things properly.
Jess (Fit Chick in the City) says:
January 6th 2010I so need a wok, but don’t have space for the kitchen appliances I already own. My tiny kitchen needs to grow! Love the simple, healthy recipe.

January 6th 2010I really like your interest in consuming more and different veggies! I need to get a wok so I can make some great stir-fry recipes. For now I just use my large skillet, and it works pretty well. I love sugar snap peas, mushrooms, and baby carrots in my stir-fry!

January 6th 2010I have never heard of Braggs – does it taste like soy sauce? My husband and I have been trying to vary our veggies, too. There are so many we love, but often, we stick to the same ones.
