I’m pretty sure I have a head cold coming on. Poor me!
I spent yesterday complaining, drinking a ton of water, and drinking two tons of tea.
Speaking of tea, have you tried the new full leaf teas by TAZO? If you’re a tea fan, you might really enjoy them, too. Not only is the packaging of the tea itself fabulous, the flavor is like tea on steroids…big and bold! So far I’ve had the Chai Tea and the Vanilla Rooibos. However, according to the tin, rooibos is not technically a tea, it’s the needles of an African Bush. Who knew?
Anyway, I was going to pick up one of the other flavors of these full leaf teas but when I asked the barista for her recommendation she said, “I don’t drink caffeine.” SAY WHAT?
There are two things wrong with this:
1. I think it should be mandatory that all baristas be caffeinated, or at the very least, the entire morning shift.
2. After doing some light reading (right on the package) I learned they do carry some decaffeinated options (like Vanilla Rooibos, for example). My barista must have slept through that meeting.
Now I really must go freshen up and then put a few ideas in the coffee-house suggestion box. Coming up with helpful hints is my special-tea.

February 2nd 2010hmmmm…I’d bet I’l like that tea! herbal teas aren’t technically “tea.” So green, black, oolong, and white teas are the only true teas.

February 2nd 2010I tend to mock mercilessly when people utter those words my way. it makes me feel better about my I LOVE AND AM NOT SURRENDERING MY ONE CUP OF CAFF TO KICK OFF MY MORNING-itis.

February 2nd 2010I love that Vanilla Rooibos. I just tried a rooibos from Numi – not my fave. I like the option of decaf in the afternoon, but definitely need the caffeine kick in the morning!

February 2nd 2010lol…funny…that’s like working in an ice cream shop and not eating ice cream! Unheard of.
That tea sounds good; I’ll have to try it. I hope I don’t have a “tea rage.”
Jess (Fit Chick in the City) says:
February 2nd 2010What? A barista that doesn’t drink caffeine or know about the decaf options??
I hope you’ve fought off your cold. I’m so not enjoying mine!

February 2nd 2010OK, you got me hooked on Capella (can you believe that I placed a second order after getting the first one?!? Hey, they were running a sale until 1/31. What’s a girl to do but take advantage of a sale!!! ha ha) Now this????? ha ha….. I LOVE tea. I have a tea cabinet and an entire self of my pantry dedicated to teas. If it’s vanilla, carmel, or maple, I MUST have it. I do enjoy Tazo, too, so how can I go wrong. So, now I’m going to check their website and see what other flavors they have and where I can get them. Thanks for getting me to spend more money!!! ha ha ha. I’m sure my hubs will be thrilled……Life with no caffeine???? Muuuhaaahaaa. yeah, right. If I didn’t have that I’d never get through a 5:00am workout!

February 2nd 2010I am not a tea person even though I know it is good for you.. I don’t like the taste but maybe these flavored ones are better.
As for caffeine, I got to have my morn brew!
The Candid RD says:
February 2nd 2010That’s too weird!! Almost like my experience of asking the barista how much caffeine was in a medium coffee, and she said, “40 mg”. I went how and found online that it was 300mg! I hadn’t believed her anyway, what a goof. I wrote to Caribou Coffee after that.
I can’t imagine working at a coffee shop and not drinking caffeine!!
I hope you feel better Joanna. It sounds like you’re on the right track, staying hydrated, and of course, healthy eating :) Have a good day.

February 2nd 2010Thanks for sharing about the tea. I like tea, but I rarely drink it. It’s so often bland. Smells like something fabulous, but tastes blah.

AND I need to know how this PF/coffee shop conquest of yours played out! I tried a new protein powder/hot drink mix yesterday and I nearly cried it was so good.
Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman says:
February 2nd 2010I’m borderline addicted to tea. Scratch that. I’m addicted. My husband got one of these new bags yesterday at Starbucks. I was so proud of him because he took a photo before he trashed it.
Allie (Protein Girl) says:
February 2nd 2010When you say “the flavor is like tea on steroids,” do you mean full of rage, bulging veins and creepy unnatural muscles? Or do you mean it packed with lovely, blissful tea flavor?
Also love that you say “my barista.” I wish I had my own personal barista… Can you do a giveaway for that?!
Diane Fit to the Finish says:
February 2nd 2010I hope you can kick that cold out the door! I feel for you. I’m a big fan of tea and that Tazo is a bold flavored tea!
