I love my boss

I love my boss…my Gymboss that is! My work boss isn’t so bad, either! [Insert brown nose here.]

The Gymboss I ordered arrived in the mail a few weeks ago and I’ve been using the sucker as a stop watch and as an interval timer ever since. Here’s what I love about my Gymboss:

  • It’s pink. But, yes, it does come in other colors, too, like good ole black…

  • It’s about the size of a pager and it can clip on your waistband, fasten it to the cover of your fitbook, or just let if hang out on the handlebars of your spinning bike.IMG_7639
  • It has several features to help you time your workouts. For example, two days a week I have High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) in my program, so I set my Gymboss forĀ  30 seconds of sprints and 30 second recovery for 15 minutes. At each interval my Gymboss either vibrates or beeps depending how it’s programmed so I know when to work and when to slow it down. The Gymboss is great for those cardio sessions like plyometrics, kettlebellĀ  swings, jump roping, and outdoor sprints so you don’t have to pause to look at your watch, you just wait for the buzz from the Gymboss. I also use this timer as a stop watch on my home spinning bike that doesn’t have all of the electronic gadgets like gym equipment.

I’ll be honest, setting up my interval sessions the first time was a lot like setting the timer on my VCR (ok, DVD Player)…it was challenging. Maybe if I would have had someone else do it for me or read the instructions first, it would have gone a little smoother. But now that I have it set up, I’m good to go on and on like the energizer bunny.

Want to WIN a Gymboss? Enter the drawing by telling us all about what gets you through your heart-pumping workouts in the comments section. This contest will end on Sunday, March 14th and the winner will be announced on Monday.

Now I really must go lace up my shoes and show the gym who’s boss!

I am so bad at programming gadgets! I recently got a garmin and it’s a love hate relationship. I can’t figure out how to use all the settings.

Oh my gosh I’ve been wanting one of those SO BAD!! I do HIIT at home so that would help so much! Usually music gets me through it!

Very cool, this would make workout a lot easier. I have a terrible time seeing the clock or a watch while I train. Either my glasses are sweaty and sliding down my nose or I am blind. My old gym has an interval circuit with a big red and green lights that I used a lot.

HIT intervals are great. They definitely get the blood pumping. I am also a huge fan of rowing for a great heart pumping, all body workout. The rower I have is lacking any timer gadget of its own as is my bike which is inside on the roller for the winter (but not for much longer). I have found that certain of the martial arts kata that I do really make my heart pound too. Pair them in intervals with the heavy bag and look out.

Ah, yes, the HIIT sure does work! I was at it this morn already!!! I would love to use this gadget & would most likely have my hubby show me how to use it. I am not tech savvy! :-)

What gets me thru the workout – the sense of accomplishment of pushing myself & of course, the results!

Working out with friends gets me through my workouts. It is so much easier with a buddy!! Maybe I need a (gym)boss!

Ohhhh…that sounds like just what I need! I have the hardest time hearing my watch, and the idea that it may buzz! Sweet! Also, when doing planks I can’t see my watch to know that I’m actually doing it for the right amount time. The gymboss would surely come in handy there! The gymboss IS needed in my life!

This would be great during boxing circuits. Currently we have to have one “off” station so that someone can watch the clock. The gratification of keeping up with and sometimes beating the guys that I workout with keeps me going strong.

My iPod. I wonder how people ran without it before. My workouts would be so short if I had to listen to the general gym background music.

Oh I totally need one of those for my HIIT workouts!!!

I like to watch the Food Network when I workout and think of all the delicious things I could eat for dinner!

I love HIIT workouts. I love the intensity and how strong I feel. For some reason they make me feel like a super woman – especially doing HIIT run workouts. When I do treadmill HIIT it’s usually super amped up music that gets me through those last few intervals.

I love the feeling I get after the hard workout is finished, so that keeps me going through the times of sweating profusely. :-)

I have been looking at getting one of these because figuring your intervals can be taxing when your heart rate is at about 83% and you are trying to add 45 seconds to your current time of 12:53.

To get through my tough workouts I break each interval down and tell myself you just have to sprint 30 seconds or 1 minute and then you can rest, I also have a power song, Eye of the tiger that I play that gets me motivated. Even though it’s rough Iknow the tough workouts are what’s going to make a difference and really change my body. I’d love a gymboss to assist me with meeting my goals!!!

Hmmm… What gets me through my heart-pumping workouts? One of these three things: a workout buddy, good music, or watching the calories burn on my heart rate monitor.

What gets me through my heart-pumping workouts? Watching trashy t.v. shows (we don’t have cable at home, so it’s a treat….). ;) I would love the Gymboss for HIIT!

To get through tough workouts I read books and create interval routines….by chunking the time into intervals the workout goes by much more quickly!
