Sweating is sexy…in the movies. Sweating is not so sexy when:
- You left your sweat on the bench I was about to use at the gym
- You spent an hour in the steam room and then decided to join us in the gym to workout
- It turns the armpits of your wife-beater t-shirts yellow
- You stink
Solutions? Use a towel to clean up after yourself, then wash said towel and your gym clothes in a product like Tide with Febreze Sport. If you read fitness magazines, you might have noticed advertisements for new fangled Tide. So did I.
So, this weekend when I was fresh out of laundry detergent, I scooped up some of this new Tide. I have to say it smells as it should…good and clean! According to my label it has an Active Fresh Scent. I’ve never smelled Active Fresh Scent before so I’m going to take their word for this one.
Febreze also makes a spray for sprucing up all of the stanky stuff you can’t stuff in the washing machine like gym bags, gym shoes, and equipment. So, if you’ve ever left used gym socks in your gym bag overnight, this stuff just might be for you, smelly. Oh, and did I mention Febreeze Sport is an Official Locker Room Product of the NFL? I wonder if the Tide sports collection is the Official Locker Room Product of the White Sox? (ba-doom-boom!)
Now I really must go put on my Active Fresh Scented gym clothes and do another load of…deadlifts.

March 10th 2010This stuff is way to expensive for the claims they make!!! All I need for my clothes to smell fresh is a little ‘all’ brand detergent with sme Snuggle exhilarations fabric softener! Cant beat the price or the fresh scent:)
Jessica@HowSweet says:
March 10th 2010Cool! Didn’t know about these sport products!
Joanna Sutter says:
March 10th 2010Heather, Check your fitness mags and the Sunday paper for a coupon if you’re interested in giving this stuff a try. BTW, I’m a Snuggle kind of girl myself! ;-)

March 10th 2010Active + Fresh = oxymoron in my book! I use another special detergent for my smelly workout clothes. It’s changed them for the good and I bet I even smell slightly better. =)

March 10th 2010Darn, I just bought detergent. Will have to wait till next time although we have used Febreeze for a long time now!
PS; I bring 3 towels with me to the gym!

Heather (Wheres the Beach) says:
March 10th 2010Thanks for the review. Just got a coupon for that stuff and was curious as to whether or not it was worth it.
Joanna Sutter says:
March 10th 2010living with chickens…Nope, P&G did not pay me to write this and they don’t even know I wrote this for all I know, I just like the product. ;-)

March 10th 2010Thanks for the laundry tips! I usually use tied, but didn’t know about the sport! I will have to give it a try.

Erika @ Dr. TriRunner says:
March 10th 2010I’m all for smelling “fresh and active” .. but I’m curious – are the ingredients any different than a different tide or febreeze? Like what did they really put in there that makes it specifically target the sweat molecules, ya know? Either way, laundry soap and smelling good is a good thing, so if it didn’t cost more than the regular products, I’d be all for it!
Geri says:
March 10th 2010Thanks for the review! I am going to try it! Will look for the coupons!
Heather @ Side of Sneakers says:
March 10th 2010That febreeze would probably be a good idea for the wet bathing suit I left in my gym bag last night…..ewww…

March 10th 2010Since I have sensitive skin I can’t use all the fragrances. I just put some baking soda or 20 mule team borax in with my workout gear. It works like a charm and it’s pretty cheap.
Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman says:
March 10th 2010I so agree–stinky gym goers ruin a workout. I’ve never heard of these, though I do love Febreeze for smoky jeans because VA still allows smoking in restaurants!
Teri [a foodie stays fit] says:
March 10th 2010I tried to buy that Tide sport version but couldn’t find it at my Wal-Mart! :( And I can’t go back to Wal-Mart for another year so I’ll just have to wait. hehe
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says:
March 10th 2010what makes it different from regular detergent
Heather says:
March 10th 2010Joanna- thanks for the tip about the coupons but I doubt I’ll try the stuff. At around 10 bucks a bottle it doesnt seem worth it. Love that snuggle though!
The Candid RD says:
March 10th 2010I dunno about this “special Fabreze for sports”. I think it’s a marketing scheme personally. I like Fabreze, but I won’t spend extra money for “Fabreze Sport”. The regular Fabreze gets Nick’s smells out of his STINKY work clothes, I think it can do anything! And trust me, he comes home and STINKS! I can’t even hug him until he gets in the shower…haha

March 10th 2010Sad story.. I don’t sweat much!! Which is good yes, but isn’t there something about sweating that makes you feel so refreshed? LOL!

March 10th 2010I forgot to take my gym stuff out of my bag and had to workout in 2 day old smelly workout stuff today – so this is my chance to say SORRY IT WAS ME THAT STUNK LIKE A PIG TODAY and it won’t happen again. Off to wash my gear in regular old Tide!! thanks for the update Joanna
