Spring For Some New Shoes

IMG_7742You know how we’re always being told that every time we change the clocks forward or backwards we should change the batteries in our smoke detectors? Well, I propose that we do that, AND use daylight savings time as a reminder to spring for some new gym shoes.

If you’re like me, a cross-trainer, then you should be buying new kicks every 6 months, according to Women’s Health Magazine.

If you’re not like me, and you’re a runner, I’ve read you should be getting new shoes every 300+ miles.

So, if you’re overdue for new shoes like I was, I suggest you run to the store and score some new duds. Your feet will thank you.

Now I really must go change my batteries, put my new shoes on, and spring forward to the gym!

Cute shoes! Where can I get them! =) It is time for me to replace my cross trainers. They’re usually the ones that get replaced the least as I’m always replacing my running shoes.

I definitely need some new running shoes…maybe I’ll use this post as an excuse for a trip to the shoe store :-)

Jess, I picked these suckers up at Sports Authority over the weekend. They were under $50 with my $10 coupon. Score! ;-)

Oddly enough, I placed an order for both cross-trainers and running shoes just yesterday.

I’ve needed new shoes for so long. They’re pretty expensive, so I’m saving up. Still, my current shoes look at me pathetically every time I put them on!

oh my gosh this is brilliant – twitter, facebook, and blog more about this…make it a movement!  i always forget when i bought my last pair of workout shoes and this is perfect.  i always buy 2 at a time: 1 for the gym for cross-training/lifting and 1 for running…so that way every six months would be perfect to upgrade my duds!  thanks for the idea – brilliant.

I just went one step further (pun intended) I made the investment of going to the “Good Feet” store and getting orthopedic inserts for my shoes! a bit pricey initially but OHHHH! how my back and neck are loving me for it! They have a lifetime warranty and helped immediately with my posture, I stand straighter naturally, and my head and chest are up and I think that I look so much better when I stand tall which makes me feel better about myself, and with that extra boost of confidence and no foot or back pain I am sure that I look more confident, sure of myself and my whole attitude changes for the better!

Changing your sneakers are so important when working out. I feel like you don’t realize it until you get a new pair and you feel so much better. Your arch, your shin splints, etc…I recommend having two pairs of sneakers also, that way you can break them in and your feet adjust to the different workouts. Then when you do need a new pair, at least you wont have a hard time adjusting.

I can definitely second this thought! New shoes are a must for me at regular intervals.

Ohhh Joanna, I was just trying to convince myself TODAY that I don’t need new tennis shoes yet! I have probably had mine for about 8 months….but they still look good! You’re right though, they aren’t supporting me as well as before, and I need to spring for a new pair (no pun intended). Thanks for the (UGH) reminder!

You should always spend a lot on your bed and your shoes, because when you’re not in one, you’re in the other! Enjoy your new pair, hopefully they’ll empower you to spring into the new season with energy and motivation!

Love your shoes! Good advice – 300 miles. And I love the idea of planning to buy new shoes when we turn the clocks. I can get some nice bright ones in the spring and some black ones like yours to go with long black running pants in the fall.
