It Takes Two to Mango

Shay challenged me to create a mango protein shake under 200 calories. I did not dance around, I went straight to my blender and whipped up this low calorie, highly-delicious…

Mango TangoIMG_7813

  • 1/3 cup frozen mangos [35 cals]
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened So Delicious Coconut Milk – [25 cals]
  • 1/4 cup vanilla protein powder (not quite a ‘full scoop’) – [100 cals]
  • 3/4 – 1 cup water
  • Ice
  • Stevia to taste

Combine all ingredients in a mixer. Blend. Garnish with one of those cute little umbrellas.

How does it taste? Exactly like a refreshing tropical vacation, minus the sand and cabana boy. But Shay didn’t ask for all that, so my work here is done.

Now I really must go give Shay a call and tell her to shake up some mangos and whey.

That sounds absolutely delish, though never have had mango…might have to try!

Mmmm, yum! This is almost exactly like my morning protein smoothies – I use 1/2 cup Trader Joe’s Mangolicious instead of the mango, and almond milk instead of coconut milk.

This looks yummy! I just bought some frozen mangos because they were on sale and I wasn’t really sure what to do with them…problem now solved!

Mmm, sounds delicious! Way to take a dare and succeed in fulfilling it :) I’m so sad that on the FODMAPS diet plan I can’t eat mango. No wonder I used to get all crampy when I ate them, apparently they are high in fructose. What a bummer. I still add them to Nick’s smoothies though!

When we lived in Puerto Rico mangos grew in our yard in so much abundance we all got tired of them! But now I love them again.

Sometimes I just like to stop by to see what clever writing you have going on. Nicely done. :)

I would use honey to sweeten rather than stevia. Those sugar substitutes are not good for you, while honey is a natural sweetner which breaks down easier in your body.

I would also like to share this high protein and fiber shake, that I came up with myself. It is about 320 calories and perfect for after a cardio workout.
Combine in blender: 1/3 cup liquid egg whites, 1 cup (skim or 1%) milk, 1/2 cup water, 1 cup fresh or frozen (unsweetened) fruit, 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed, 1 tbsp. honey. Delicious and very healthy. Enjoy!
