I used to carry more keys than a locksmith. Ok, that’s a slight exaggeration.
But now I have one of those cars where you just push a button and if the keyfob is somewhere inside the car it starts. I have no idea how it works, I am not a locksmith. So now I only carry keys for…
- My house
- My mailbox and,
- Alicia (get it, Alicia Keys)
Moving on.
When I joined my new gym they gave me a membership card so I had the perfect excuse to pick up a new key chain by the ever-clever company, Words To Sweat By.
So now I have a gentle reminder that there are NO EXCUSES to skip a workout and a sporty little key ring that I can use for keys or as a zipper pull for my gym bag. Words to Sweat By has an entire collection of colors and sayings, too, on key chains like mine, and on gym towels that you really should check out. And, when you checkout enter fitnessandspice in the coupon code and you’ll get 15% off your orders now through May 6th.
By the way, I bought an extra key chain. Want it? Enter the drawing by telling us one of your keys to success. We’ll announce the winner on Friday, April 30th.

April 29th 2010What a cook idea for a giveaway! One of my keys to success is a quote that has become a personal mantra. It’s the Hannibal quote “Aut viam inveniam aut faciam”, which means “I’ll either fina a way or make one”. I even have it tattooed on my side as a permanent reminder to get tough, push through and find a way and never take no for an answer. I recite it to myself when things at work are tough, I don’t want to work out or really any time you can think of that one would need extra motivation. It keeps me going full speed ahead!

Jessica@HowSweet says:
April 29th 2010Love that! My key? Set goals. If you don’t have a goal, nothing will happen!
Nicole says:
April 29th 2010One of the keys I am implementing currently to reach my goals with success is to lose the “If/Then” approach to life and happiness…..in other words, I will lose the mantra “If I’m skinny, I’ll be happy”, “If I’m 10 lbs lighter, I will……”…..that sort of thought process is very destructive. I will be “Body Proud” NOW and happiness will follow at any size until I have reached my goal. I have to learn to be content with where I am currently in order to move forward!!!
Thanks for the great blog!

April 29th 2010My biggest key to success is realizing I am the key to my own accomplishments. I’ve found one of the hardest things to overcome is standing up to your peers and family members. “Let’s just go have a drink, skip the gym.” I’ve heard that many times. It’s a hard thing to overcome. But once you take control of your own destination it’s an amazing feeling. Every little quote and reminder you can leave yourself helps greatly.
Angie Darby says:
April 29th 2010One of my keys is to just stay busy and don’t hang around in the kitchen. I have found other places in my house that i like to hang out in now instead of the kitchen. The kitchen is the heart of most homes and was mine for years but not anymore. My family and I have made 2 new rooms: a workout room and a place to play games. It is working great.

April 29th 2010For me it is to have a training plan and don’t give up if things don’t go according to plan. Nobody is perfect!

April 29th 2010my key to success is never giving up. i wouldn’t say i’m necessarily where i want to be in life at the moment but i know i will get there. the key literally is to push forward like you do when working out and it gets painful or tough i learned instead of giving up to keep plodding through at my own pace and once i get through the tough bit i get this surge of energy that is amazing! it’s like my body is celebrating that i made it throwing it’s own little party. so that i think is the key to success.

April 29th 2010My key to success is to work out first thing in the morning. Nothing has the opportunity to get in the way.
Pam says:
April 29th 2010Remember what’s driving you to lose the weight in the first place. My favorite quote is “Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.” Keep a journal of your eating and exercise. Look back on the weeks that you lost and gained weight and see what changes have to be made. Another quote is “No Excuses.” I use that when it comes to exercise.

April 29th 2010How cool are those keyring tags ?!
The key to success for me, and I can see that it really works for others too, is setting goals: mini-goals to be specific… just one to three basic mantras each week (and as basic as ‘drink 5 glasses of water’) to keep me moving in the right direction.
Naomi(onefitfoodie) says:
April 29th 2010love these!! they are so cute!!!! keys to my success is being true to myself and not following others footsteps. My father always said to my brother and I ‘dont be ordinary, make a difference’ everyday before school and I hold that with me every day!!

April 29th 2010Loooove it! One of my “keys to success” is placing my faith in my sports med team. Sometimes I want to fight back and just “do what I want”, but they know better, and they truly do have my best interest in mind!
Bec Paton says:
May 3rd 2010Fitness for me is all about mind over matter. I always thought I wasn’t any good at sport and exercise so I never really tried that hard. Consequently it never really featured that heavily in my life. When I hit 88kgs I had to find a way change that and make it a big feature in my daily life.. Now I have learnt that the key to my success is the absolute belief that I can and will do it, whatever “it” is. And if I don’t do it well the first time, I will do it better the next.
