Walk and Give Me 30!

Today is the American Heart Association’s National Start! Walking Day. I challenge you to join me to grab your sole mate and carve out 30 minutes and take a hike walk! Why does the American Heart Association want us to walk?

Research has shown that the benefits of walking and moderate physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day can help you:

  • Reduce the risk of coronary heart disease
  • Improve blood pressure and blood sugar levels
  • Improve blood lipid profile
  • Maintain body weight and lower the risk of obesity
  • Enhance mental well being
  • Reduce the risk of osteoporosis
  • Reduce the risk of breast and colon cancer
  • Reduce the risk of non insulin dependent (type 2) diabetes

Now I really must go…

Walking is such a great form of exercise! It can be tough to find time to get out for a walk as often as we should but if you just think of how great you’re going to feel after all that fresh air and exercise you can give yourself the empowerment you need to get out there!
