When I was on Fat Fighter TV…

IMG_8259A few months ago when I was on Fat Fighter TV I won the grand prize.

There was confetti, countless media interviews, and unending letters from fans around the globe.

Ok, none of that happened.

What actually happened was I received a Gaiam Bootcamp Workout Kit in the mail a few weeks later.

And it sat unopened in my home gym for weeks.

Why? Because there was some assembly required. To know me is to know that I am lacking the “some assembly required” gene.

But I was feeling like Ms. Fixit yesterday so I decided to bust open the kit and see what tools I would need to put it all together. It was a bitter-sweet moment. Bitter in that it took me so long to open the box and sweet in that the only assembly required was simply to fill up a ball with water and put a lid on it.

After all of that assembly work I popped in the DVD and did a 10 minute ab workout, a full body workout, and an upper body workout. And I really liked it.

  • I like the equipment – a high quality resistance band (with real, not wimpy resistance), a stability disk (which I especially loved for some challenging push up variations), and that weighted water ball that I filled up that acted as a mini medicine ball throughout the workouts
  • I like the DVD – the navigation gave you plenty of options from what body part you wanted to work to the duration of your workout
  • I like the instructor on the DVD – she’s in killer shape, she gave great cues, and she wasn’t overly perky (if you know what I mean)
  • I like that I now have a great addition to my home gym for times when I just don’t want to go can’t make it to my real gym

Do you have a home gym? What’s your favorite workout DVD or piece of equipment?

Now I really must go assemble some lunch and then hammer out some new extensions on my triceps!

We do have a treadmill at home but that is it. I haven’t done a DVD in AGES. I would never workout if I didn’t have to go to the gym…lol.

I do have some home gym items that I love and use. I have a space saver elliptical trainer, bowselect tech dumbbells (a steal off of craigslist), pull up bar, pushbars, resistance bands, sliders, and DVDs. My favorite workout DVDs are p90x and also Insanity. They are great because you can take them while you are traveling.

We do have some gym equipment – weights, bike, stepper- but I find when I work out at home, I use DVD’s the most. I love to do yoga vids and my newest fave is 10 Minute Solution BootCamp. It’s brutal!

No home gym for me, though I have some resistance bands and a bosu ball. I’m not a fan of workout DVDs, but those resistance bands are great for at-home workouts.

No home gym for me. I go to the gym but I have a few things at home I use for abs/core & just in case times.

I love the sound of that Bootcamp workout kit!

I live in a smallish apartment, so my “home gym” is compact–a resistance band, two 10 pound weights, and a plethora of DVDs. My favorites are the TurboJam series (because I teach TurboKick and  it’s fun to take it once in awhile) and P90x (because its satisfies my exercise ADD).

DVD’s get old after watching them too long…need about a 12 disc rotation to keep my interests!

I would love one of those all in one home gyms with no weights but bands..I can’t remember what they are called..but for now I have a few weights and a bosu ball but that is it!

OMG, I can’t believe you didn’t check to see what the “some assembly required” was sooner! I am cracking up! As for my home gym, I have lots of stuff – a Gaiam kit like yours, lots of workout DVDs, a step, exercise ball, hand weights, and resistance bands. I would like to add a BOSU to my collection someday…

That’s neat!! Right now we have a bowflex, which I never use for some reason. But when I become rich I’m going to build my own gym. I wish!

I have a home gym, sorta… I got 5, 10, and 15lbs dumbbells, 15 and 18lbs bars, 2 resistance bands, a stability ball, treadmill, jump rope, hula hoop and a yoga mat plus bikes and roller blades. My fave DVD has to be my Two Week Turnaround DVD from Prevention Magazine. Chris is chipper (but not creepy chipper). And the workout, didn’t know walking could be so intense, plus there is a yoga bit at the end!

I love all things that have to do with homes and gyms. I think I’m allergic to working out in traditional gyms after spending so many years in them. I think I love my BOSU and kitchen towels the best.

I love my home gym setup! It’s simple but effective… especially love my treadmill, mini-trampoline, yoga mat, dvd’s (inc. the 10 min solutions ones – they’re great) and number one piece of gym-essential-equipment: music. Gotta have the ipod blaring.
