I was in the gym yesterday, lifting and lowering some weights, doing my thing, minding my own business when a guy walked up to me and asked:
What are you training for?
These 10 responses ran through my head faster than the overachieva-diva on the treadmill:
- To be Cristiano Ronaldo’s girlfriend
- World peace
- A world without sentences that end with a preposition
- Flag Day
- 9 pack abs
- Bragging rights on Facebook
- 2% bodyfat
- The 2004 Olympic Games
- Blog material
- So I can eat cupcakes
But what I really said was something a little more realistic…
I’m training to add more fat burning muscle (and world peace)!
What are you training for (today)?
Now I really must go tell the Beckham’s there’s going to be a new (Fitness &) Spice girl playing the field!

June 16th 2010Looks like we’re training for a lot of the same things :) Perfect eye candy while I’m having some coffee! I’m also training for mental strength- proving to myself that I can run a full marathon this year.

June 16th 2010You’re a riot! I’m training for 40 myself. No one wants to look like hell at 40, right? I’m hoping to pull a Gloria Steinem when someone says “You don’t look 40″ and respond “This is what 40 looks like!” LOL ;) And World Peace….
Foxy Burd says:

Heather (Where's the Beach) says:
June 16th 2010Totally training for muscles. I’m fairly petite and thin and don’t want to look like I can’t pick up and change out a water cooler bottle.
Jody - Fit at 52 says:
June 16th 2010What a compliment!!!!! I get that question a lot but I like your answers better! People think I am a bodybuilder, runner & who knows what else! I am training to keep my muscle for as long as possible & to an older age than I already am! :-)
Linda says:
June 16th 2010Ah Jo, I love your stuff! I train for mental health and clarity, longevity to my body, and the right to feel free to wear low riders for as long as I want … and world peace! ;-)

June 16th 2010First of all, I did not give you permission to use my photo on your blog. One must earn the right to see those abs ;) However, I forgive you…I’m sure you were “just minding your own business,” when that guy randomly appeared. I call that, “milkshake bringing boys to your yard.”
<3 Matt

June 16th 2010When I’m not training for a race, I have to think if I weren’t running and eating all this food trying to write a cookbook would be so much slower

June 19th 2010I love your answers! I tend to go with “a strong, cut, lean , ass-kicking body!” …but that’s just me lol
GiGi says:
June 29th 2010I get this question ALL THE TIME… and I always just answer with: LIFE – because it’s true, I mean exercise calms me down and keeps me sane; two things we need in life to get through the days without FLIPPING OUT! ha ha!
PS: Just found your blog, it’s great! :)
