Remember when you were little and would make it a point to call out that you were 7-and-a-half years old? Yeah, I don’t do that anymore either.
Nevertheless, here we are: July 1st, 2010-and-a-half. Six more months left in twenty-ten.
In keeping with the theme of Fitness & Spice…where fitness, food, and fashion get a healthy shake, I set 3 goals at the beginning of the year:
- One for fitness…to kick it up a notch when doing cardio instead of just going through the motions
- One for food…to add more variety to my diet since I was eating the same ole things over and over again
- One for fashion…to get out of my work from home clothes (also known as gym clothes or pajamas) more often and wear “real clothes”
So how am I doing? Let’s just say I’m glad we have 6 more months left in this year!
I did great right out of the gate with my fitness goal, but I could work harder. I’m going to start wearing a heart rate monitor again to make sure I’m in the zone when doing cardio.
I’m rocking my food goal and trying out all sorts of new recipes thanks to all of the food bloggers and cookbooks I’ve read already this year…hello, kale chips!
My fashion mission needs improvement (kind of like my math grade when I was 7-and-a-half). If lululemon would stop making such comfortable workout gear, I’d have this one in the (shopping) bag.
It looks like I have some work to do to make sure I hit my 2010 goals, but where there’s a will, there’s a way!
What are your 2010-and-a-half year goals?
Now I really must go wrap up my half-time report and get ready a winning season!

July 1st 2010I did the same reflection today. At least I’ve got that More Cardio thing going, otherwise I’m not so sure 6 more months of the year would be enough time.

July 1st 2010I usually make monthly goals. My July goals are 1) Organize better so I do not have to make extra trips to the store (I always pick up a treat at the check-out line). 2) Strengthen my core. 3) Try out my GymBoss

July 1st 2010Um, is it bad to say my 6-month goals are the same as they were in January? Yeah, I thought so.

July 1st 2010Amazing that we are already thru half of 2010! I have done very well with pushing myself in the gym… I have experimented with my awful cooking skills… but the fashion, like you, not so much. I keep trying to get on What Not to Wear as I really do need their help. Maybe I will try again (#3 enrty!)! Also, survive perimenopause! :-)

July 1st 2010The one goal I’m still struggling with is the negative talk. Doing better – but good thing we have 6 months left ;-)

July 1st 2010Love this! One goal I have is to really focus on following my heart and pursing my passion of fitness and writing. Wish me luck! I have lots of changes coming up but I can’t really talk about them yet online! :)

July 1st 2010Too funny! I work from home and I cannot get out of my sweats — I am dreading the day when we switch to video conferencing for meetings!!
Carbzilla says:
July 1st 2010I was doing great food-wise but have recently fallen off the low-carb, low-sugar wagon so I’m recommitting to that as well as ramping up the exercise. 6 months – we can do this!

Starfire says:
July 3rd 2010I set myself some fitness goals for the first half of the year…
1/ To get my hill fitness up so that when I started training in September for the 100km charity walk I want to do in April 2011, I’d actually be in a much better position to just focus on distance rather than trying to radically increase distance AND hill fitness at the same time (which is why said walk kicked my butt in 2009)
2/ To bring my weight down to a level that didn’t get in the way of the aforementioned hill fitness (seriously – if handing my 4-5kg of packweight to a teammate on the uphill stretches made such a difference to my ability to cope in 2009, how much more difference would getting rid of 15-20kg of excess me-weight across the entire walk make?)
3/ To support both goals 1/ and 2/: to walk one half-marathon, one 10k and one other event each month from January till June.
And I have to say, despite the ups and downs life’s thrown at me this year, I’ve done pretty well: June was the ONLY month I didn’t manage at least a half-marathon and a 10k (I did a 10k and a 12k though); and this month I’m doing a 19.5km trail event, a half-marathon next weekend (probably), and then a week’s walking holiday in the UK.
Now I need to set myself some goals for the second half of the year (which will include: find a team for the 100km walk; set a proper training schedule for it; and maybe even finishe the Couch-2-5k programme so that I can spice up my walking with some running every now and then too!)
