I Wanted To

I had one of those days yesterday. You know the kind…low energy and a bit unorganized.

Nevertheless, I made some good choices and it ended up being a rather successful day.

My day had me thinking about a conversation started in an online forum by one of my Precision Nutrition coaches a few weeks ago. We were simply asked to share some of the positive choices we made during the week. The thread started with this simple open-ended sentence: I wanted to_______.

Apparently the lesson was not lost on me because I applied it somehow all day long. It went a lot like this…

I wanted to sleep in and skip my spinning workout but I knew I had a full day of meetings.

I wanted to finish off the bag of almonds but I chomped on some steamed edamame instead.

I wanted to have another protein shake instead of cooking dinner but I made salmon and veggies instead.

I wanted to skip the gym yesterday afternoon and take a nap but I went and lifted instead.

I wanted to stop for a pop but I had a glass of ice water instead.

I (still) wanted to polish off that bag of almonds but I brushed my teeth instead.

I wanted to stay up and watch some mindless TV but I went to bed instead.

I wanted to take another step closer to my goals yesterday…so I did!

Your turn. What healthy choices have you made this week?

Now I really must go but I wanted to let you know I’m going to the gym or I might go nuts instead!

I wanted to clean my condo from top to bottom. And I did and have one more room to go. It burns some calories and keeps my mind of boredom eating

I wanted to skip working out yesterday after finding out the gym was closed due to a power outage. Instead, I went for a long walk. And was so glad I did :)

I wanted to order pizza for dinner to avoid doing dishes but I made chicken instead. And it was really, really good.

I hear you on the I wanted. I wanted to skip out on everything by Tuesday, but instead I pounded out 5 miles. It’s amazing what you can do when you don’t hold back.

I had a day like that yesterday. My son got married this weekend so our house was full of guests, blow up beds in my halls and all lol. It was a big family slumber party. The last of my guests left and I wanted to sleep and eat chocolate. I started to work on my next workout DVD instead. That got me moving.

I wanted to sleep in yesterday but drug myself outta bed and managed to get in running 6 miles instead. I felt great afterward and had no regrets, which I’m sure I would have had I not went running. Seems like whenever you make the good choices, you never regret them (going running, eating better ect) but when you make the bad ones you almost always end up regretting it. Even if it’s not going running when you had planned on it, or not making the healthy dinner and getting take out instead.

This is so great. Ok, let me try.

I wanted to stay in COlumbus and traing, but instead I’m in Pittsburgh!
I wanted to get upset, but instead I stayed positive and am enjoying my time, a lot
I wanted to put my comfy clothes on after work, but instead I walked for 35 minutes and finished my book.

Fun!

What a great list! Not only have I been completely uninvolved in the blogging world all week (thank you Spanish class) but I have also completely neglected eating healthy and working out (thank you stressful job). I really need to get my life together this weekend!!!

I am having such an off week! Traveling always does this to me. But I guess I can say this – I wanted to sit down at the airport, but I walked around instead.

I wanted to MIX IT UP at the gym a bit… I am typically on the elliptical for 1.6 hours a day… so instead yesterday I ran on the treadmill @ 7.5/8 mph and today I did the stair mill!
