Just Because

I’m writing this post today just because.

Just because I want to get a few things off my chest. Just because I like the view from the soap box from time to time. Just because I wanted to remind myself of a few things. You know, just because.

Let’s begin…

Just because…they sell it at a whole foods store or healthy-living section of the grocery store doesn’t mean it’s good for you. Similarly…

Just because…it says natural, organic, gluten-free, 100-calorie, light, lite, or diet on the label doesn’t mean it’s the best choice on the shelf. (Friendly reminder: Read the ingredients list and nutrition facts on the side panel of foods and don’t base your buying decision on the front of the package where the marketers leave their mark.) Moving on…

Just because…you went to the gym doesn’t mean you worked out.

Just because…you can squeeze into a size small doesn’t mean it fits.

DE_Edamame_Bag_front_thumbJust because…it has a cartoon character on the package doesn’t always mean it’s unhealthy.

Just because…you ate a salad doesn’t mean it was a good choice.

Just because…you are a size zero doesn’t mean you’re healthy.

Just because…you have a coupon for a $1 off that new cereal or granola bar doesn’t mean you have to buy it.

Just because…you worked out like a dog doesn’t mean you can eat like a pig.

Just because…it’s on sale doesn’t mean it’s a good buy. And speaking of good bye’s…

Now I really must go to the gym and call my nephew Ryan just because it’s his birthday! Happy Birthday, Ry!

I love this “Just Because” list. Especially the “Just because…you are a size zero doesn’t mean you’re healthy” one.

Wondered over to your blog from The Candid RD’s blog. Glad I did! I’ll be visiting more often. IF you get a chance stop by my blog and say hello.

Have a great day!

aaaand, just because I’m a size 16 doesn’t mean I am UN healthy.

aaand, just because I enjoy spending many days in the beach doesn’t mean I’m forcing skin cancer on myself and my kids. aaaand just because I like the occasional spam sandwich doesn’t mean I’m weird. wait. what?

I try to tell this to my husband all the time. Especially: Just because they sell it at a whole foods store or healthy-living section of the grocery store doesn’t mean it’s good for you. He’s completely confused at how Whole Foods’ bakery items aren’t healthy. And I quote: But they’re from Whole Foods!

Yes!!! I love “just because you ate a salad doesn’t mean it was a good choice”. It’s amazing how many salads are higher in calories and fat than a double cheeseburger!

and to throw on to that… just because it’s organic/natural/etc. does not mean you should eat the whole box.
“but the cookies were gluten freeee!”

LOVE this post and how straight forward you are. I posted a link to it on my blog today. We all make up way too many excuses in order to avoid doing the right and/or hardest things. Being healthy is not easy! :)

I love this!!!! The salad one gets me every time. Eating a salad covered in creamy fatty dressing, isn’t really healthy.

“Just because…you can squeeze into a size small doesn’t mean it fits” – oh man, I have seen a lot of that lately! And a lot of women are wearing those long shirts that are in right now as dresses. Please. Stop.

Ah I love this blog!! Why did I only now discover it?!?! Just because you spend a ton of time thinking about health and how to be healthier does not actually CHANGE anything… in fact it can make you less healthy if you keep obsessing!
