Water proof

I always tell people that in my next life I want to come back as a man that way I can eat more and spend less time on my hair. You would cry if you knew how long it takes me to dry my hair, it’s ridiculous, isn’t it, Matt? But enough about my locks, let’s talk about my appetite.

I would eat all day long if I could get away with it, but I can’t so when I find tips and tricks to help keep my diet in check, I’m all ears. So when I heard this tip on the Today’s Show about drinking 2 glasses of water before every meal, I turned off the blow dryer and listened closely…

The research shows that people who drink two glasses of water before each meal eat on average 75-90 calories less than those that don’t. Hmmm…I eat several times a day so those calories could really add up quickly.

Now I really must go finish drying my hair and see what’s on tap for today!

Yep, I saw this article. I wanted to look more into the research to see if they were studied blindly or not, because this could have been a placebo-like effect. The people drinking the water could have known they were being studied and might have eaten less just because they thought that was supposed to happen, you know?? Either way, I do think drinking a nice big glass of water before a meal is helpful, but let’s not forget that the reason why America is so obese is because we ignore out fullness signals. We eat until we are so full that we are uncomfortable, so I don’t know how much a large glass of water, or two, will really help the average American….

oh I saw that too, and maybe a lot of trips to the bathroom due water consumption helps you burn more too, jk! hehe. But seriously, that water consumption does work!

I am constantly drinking water and making many trips to the bathrooms. Does it help with hunger? Ummm only when I really need water instead of food.

I’ve heard this before, but had no idea they had estimated how many calories one saves by using this technique.  I have to start doing this!

Takes me forever to do the hair & get ready… a man has so less probs with this!!!

As for water… whenever I drink my water it fills me up so this makes sense!

I am so with you on eating all day. I keep a huge glass of water on my desk that I fill twice. I have a little rule for myself to finish the whole thing before lunch then again before I leave for the day. No dumping it out.

I can see how this would work. I generally drink tons of water throughout the day anyhow, so I probably get two full glasses in there before a given meal. I wonder what the effect would be of drinking water during a meal. I drink during a meal, but I know plenty of people who just focus on the food.

I so agree with this! It makes so much sense…stomach just has LESS room for food!
