Nuun Sense

I was grocery shopping at Hy-Vee last week when I ran head first into a Nuun.

And I yelled, “HOLY FIT!”

No I didn’t.

But I was excited to see they were giving away samples of Nuun, these little flavored electrolyte tablets, that I first heard about from my friend Suzanne.

Nuun tabs are great for hydrating and replacing salt during and after a long workout…or any workout for that matter. Here’s what I like about Nuun:

  • The packaging -> There’s not a lot of packaging like other sports drinks so you can feel better about your carbon footprint while you’re pounding out miles of your own footprints.
  • The nutrients -> No sugar added! And there are only 6 calories and less than 1 carb per tablet. Nuun also contains electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium)  and  a small amount of Vitamin C to help prevent cramping.
  • The variety -> There are a lot of flavors to choose from. So far I’ve tried the Citrus Fruit and Tri-berry is up next!
  • The taste -> Quite refreshing and not too sweet.

Now I really must go grab some water and a Nuun…after only having this stuff for a few days, it’s already becoming a habit!

I bought some NUUN at an Expo recently.  I haven’t used it yet, but I liked the LIGHT taste when I sampled it.  I was especially excited about the no sugar part as I currently only drink Powerade Zero for that same reason (I follow the South Beach diet), but yeah…it’s a BIG plastic bottle.  I do reuse the bottle, but still…  I’m just thankful there are other electrolyte products on the market that are low carb / no to low sugar for those of us who don’t do that kind of thing.  =)

I have to let my husband know about these!  He normally uses electrotabs.

Sounds much better than Gatorade. I hate Florida Gators anyway, so I’ve got to try this stuff! Thanks for introducing me to yet another great product!

This is really cool. I’ve never heard about them, but I’ll have to show my husband. He’s looking for a Gatorade alternative. Your blog is like my one-stop place for really cool fitness stuff I’ve never heard of.

Do you add them to water or eat them?

Samantha….add one tablet to 500mL of water, or to a full 1L (large nalgene) for lighter taste. I have been using NUUN for almost 2 years. Here on the East Coast it is a bit hard to come by, but I get the sense that in the Pac NW it is all the rage (company is Seattle based). Great product, great web site, ‘personable’ staff that reply quickly to emails. I have even placed a NUUN sticker OVER the Ford emblem on my pick-up.

Guess I’m really behind, I’ve heard NUUN mentioned here and there, but never seen or had it.

I just finally saw Nuun at my grocery store too! My 3 year old loves Nuun and since we like to limit her drink choices to relatively healthy ones, Nuun is a great alternative to juice. And we live in Central Texas so the electrolyte replacement on our hot days isn’t a bad idea for her either.

I. Love. Nuun.

If you couldn’t tell by all their water bottles “mysteriously” popping up in the background of my photos. :D Kona Kola is by far my favorite!

girl you  crack me up! “HOLY FIT!” hehe

I’ve been wanting to try Nuun. I haven’t seen it anywhere here. I may need to go to a running store to find it.
