Does having a bowl of Halloween candy in your house haunt you?
Do Reses Peanut Butter Cups scream your name? Do Whoppers whisper for you in the night? Do you long to eat Hot Tamales by the handful? Then try tricking out a treat bowl with healthier-for-you treats.
Here are 3 things that I’m wicked obsessed with these days:
- Raisins. I welcomed back raisins into my diet last week for a naturally sweet post workout treat…with a side of protein, of course! The ingredients? Raisins and sunshine. ‘Nuf said!
- Emerald Cocoa Roasted Almonds. OK, confession…I’ve been obsessed with these suckers for quite sometime now and when they’re on sale I turn into a hoarder. Yes, I’m a Discovery Channel or TLC story waiting to happen.
- Wrigley’s Extra Dessert Delights Sugarfree Gum. Mint Chocolate Chip Gum, I love you, and all of your extra long-lasting and artificial flavors.
Now that I have a healthier bowl of snacks next to the bowl of treats for the neighborhood kids, it’s much, much easier to make better choices. I’m officially armed and not nearly as dangerous!
Now I really must go hit the gym and then treat myself to a little almond joy!

October 26th 2010oooh I LOVE those almonds right now too.
I do fear we’d have an egged house if I proffered em to the kids :) but *I* adore.

October 26th 2010I wish I could do sugar free gum but the sugar alcohols in them bloat me big time…. boo!
I know kids want the real treats but nothing wrong with adding in some healthy stuff & maybe even some little toy type things.
I like candy corn but it is all about portion control OR just not buying them! :-)
The Candid RD says:
October 26th 2010Yeah, I definitely have an entire bag of Reece’s in the closet, SCREAMING MY NAME! I would eat one, if I wasn’t on this darn elimination diet. I actually prefer to eat the candies, rather than chewing gum or eating raisins. I know if I don’t eat it when I crave it, I will eventually eat one and not be able to stop! So, I always go for the real stuff :) Now, when I want another one, that is when I go for the gum!
