Confessions of a Fitness & Spice Girl

Judging by all of the TV programs on stations like the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, hoarding is no joke.

While no one in my family would qualify as guests on these shows, there are a few people that may or may not have A LOT of…

  • Hand soap and/or lotion from Bath & Body Works
  • Teddy Bears
  • Gym socks

Guess which addiction is mine? If you guessed gym socks, you are correct. I cannot bear to tell you which addiction my mom has, but I will tell you my sister-in-law Dawn is the one with the Bath & Body Works issues…I cannot imagine she’s reading this anyway because she’s probably busy washing her hands.

Moving on…

I didn’t realize just how many socks I had until I was doing laundry this weekend and had to make room in another drawer for the overflow. Let’s just say I probably do not need to buy a new pair of sport socks for the next 10 to 20 years. What? You wouldn’t want me to be late for spinning because I couldn’t find socks, would you?

Anyway, while I was at Target trying to avoid the sock aisle, I was reminded of a great money saving tip from my friend Sheila…who may or may not have a shoe addiction. If you have small feet, like us, you can buy the same great gym socks in the children’s section for less money.

I guess we know who to point the finger at for my overflow of socks now, don’t we? I will do just that in the gloves I bought in the girl’s department where I may or may not have been buying some really cute pajamas, you know, the kind with the feet. Ok, ok, I just might need to seek help, maybe a 12 step program?

Do you have any healthy addictions? Let’s hear them!

Now I really must go get a pedicure and get ready for my appointment with Dr. Scholl’s.

No small feet here & yes, the price of good workout socks can add up.. I don’t have a lot. Healthy addiction – the gym & weights! ;-)

Admitting you have a “problem’ is the first step

You must have super tiny feet! My sister-in-law does. I’ll have to pass the tip on to her.

Great topic on addictions. I’ve got a healthy addiction – frozen raspberries. I go through a large bag a week, eating a handful whenever I need carbs or a sugar fix. Cheers, Rick

OK Mom, you made me LOL. What a squeal of a daughter you have ;-)

Joanna- how lucky to be such a tiny human being. I wear a ladies 10 and have been known to buy men’s shoes. sigh. Healthy addictions: protein powders, gym memberships, wife-beaters (some of them go to the gym with me). I also have a number of socks.

THanks for sharing.

Too funny! The largest drawer in my dresser is my ‘gym sock drawer’! I have the same addiction. I love the way a new pair of gym socks feels…before it gets stretched out. Hmmm….I think I need to run to the store.

my O(ver) T(he) K(nee) sock drawer overfloweth

Exercise DVD’s but I call that “motivation”! And anything to do with: clothes, hair and makeup.I don’t want a 12 step program…I’m having to much fun. Now 10,000 steps…whoop there goes another pound, yay!!

I must be in denial – I really don’t think it’s a problem at all. I think it’s being a smart shopper – you really can’t afford to pass up the sales at Bath & Body Works. You never know when your in-laws may be coming to visit. You don’t want them washing with any ordinary stinky soap.

Miz – I love those! They are a new addiction for me. I found them when I was shopping for my Pippi Longstocking costume for Halloween. I have one pair that’s like a sweater for my feet and legs. *LOVE*
I actually have 3 drawers full of socks so I may have a slight addiction too, but I love them all not just gym socks.

Such a great point, kid’s socks, what a concept!! Too bad my feet are the only large thing on my body. I wear an 8. It’s so strange because I’m an extra small everywhere else. No kid’s socks for me :( My obsession is tank tops. I have way too many! I wear them to workout, to sleep in, and just to relax around the house. My mom makes fun of me :)

I really have a lingerie problem. Seriously. I have every conceivable color of Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy bra and every color and version of thong known to man. (Wow that was so not a play on words but it came out that way!) ;-) Yeaaa. Not gonna stop any time soon. Shall I mention shoes? Boots? Oh boy….

I definitely have an issue with *travel coffee mugs*. !?!??! I know… right? How many can one person need? Two.. three at the most. Using one, one is dirty, left one at work. I wont admit how many I have…. you’d have to come inspect my kitchen cabinets. :D

Kasia says:

Hey relax. It’snot actually a sin to own too many pieces of lingerie. And who doesn’t own too many stupid coffee mugs? Guilty as well. –K

Lauren @ Team Giles says:

I really need to take up your sock addiction. I’m always looking for socks. I *collect* starbucks mugs. :) Ya know the ones with the cities on them… and maybe the ones with hearts… and baseballs… and… well a girls got to have a mug to drink her green tea out of, right!?
