Last year I mocked the idea of a “staycation” that is until I took one for the last week of 2010.
I didn’t go site seeing or build an addition to my house or anything crazy like that.
But what I did do was unplug.
For the most part I logged off my computer and only scanned email to keep my pulse on my business. Other than that, I only used my computer to download my workout for the day.
That’s it.
No Twitter, no Facebook, no LinkedIn, no blogging, no work, no nothing.
And you know what? The world did not stop. And when I came back from my staycation, I was refreshed.
And the best part? I didn’t get stuck in an airport or have piles of laundry waiting for me when I got back.
Now I really must go plan my next staycation. I think I’ll book this weekend at the Fitness & Spice Bed and Breakfast on travelocity-dot-calm.

January 5th 2011I need to do that unplug thing for the blog too… it does get overwhelming at times.. although I don’t do Twitter & FB only to post my blog post.. but the writing & reading & trying to keep up does require a break.. got me thinking!

January 8th 2011So so so so so so smart. I’m going to try to be one part-time partial staycation all the time- rather than getting sucked in 100% to the electronic world. Think I can do it???? Perhaps you can come over and wrestle the laptop from me- that should work.
