Stop the Glorification of Busy

I saw this image posted on Pinterest and its words made an impact on me. In fact, its message stopped me in my busy tracks and caused me to pause and write.

We talk non-stop about how busy we are at home, at work, after work, after school, all week, and all weekend.

We brag about how busy we are.

We talk about how busy we are like it’s a badge of honor.

Well, quite frankly, I’m getting kind of tired of talking about how busy I am and hearing about how busy you are.

Are you too busy to workout? To grab coffee with a friend? To read a book? To get a good night sleep? To cook a healthy meal? To thank the good Lord for your blessings?

Or are you too busy making excuses?

Join me. Stop glorifying busy.

I couldn’t agree more! When I saw this on Pintrest, I myself, was stopped in my tracks and was like…. “YES!”

It is so true. Why do people brag about how busy they are? It’s not fun being busy, its stressful so what are we trying to prove to one another?

AMEN SISTER! Stop the glorification of busy

I’m so glad the “busy” quote resonated with you. It’s so very important to me to communicate what I’ve accomplished versus being busy for the sake of being busy. Too often we automatically jump to “busy” as a default response. If you like this quote, there are 48 more in my book [RE]FRAME: Little Inspirations For A Larger Purpose (www.slimbooks.com/reframe). Best, Sarah :)

I love this post! I was just having a similar thought the other day, that I am tired of feeling like I’m in a constant game of one-upsmanship about busyness with friends and coworkers. If we’re doing the things we’re doing, we’re CHOOSING to do them, right? So we shouldn’t complain and I love that phrase, we shouldn’t “glorify busy.” Thank you!

Love this post. I too feel that we glorify how “busy” and how “tired” we are.

Wow. So, so true. This very much resonated with me and caused me to ask myself, “How can I de-busify my life to ensure there’s time for the really important things?”

I think I totally agree with your views. I mean saying ‘I am busy’ has become something like a fashion. People just glorify the word so much because it makes them look important. Thank you so much for this valuable thought.

I tend not to leave a ton of comments, however i did a few searching and wound up here Stop the Glorification of Busy
| Fitness & Spice. And I do have a couple of questions for you if it’s allright. Is it simply me or does it appear like some of the remarks look like written by brain dead people? :-P And, if you are writing at other places, I would like to follow everything new you have to post. Could you make a list of all of your community sites like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?
