10 Ways to Go Lean and Green

IMG_7767From the home office of Fitness & Spice, here are 10 ways to go lean and green for St. Patrick’s Day….

1. Get fresh. Buy local produce.

2. Remember to skip the paper or plastic and bring your canvas bags to the grocery store.

3. Journal in a fitbook, printed on recycled paper.

4. Recycle old iPods. (I have a drawer full. Don’t judge.)

5. Shop for environmentally-friendly gym clothes! How cute is this organic cross-back tank from Gaiam?

6. Bring your own mug to Starbucks. Not only will you save paper, you’ll save some coin, too. Starbucks will knock off $.10 every time you bring your own cup, you do-gooder, you!

7. Make a trip to Goodwill to hand over some clothes that no longer fit, skinny.

8. Toss your fitness and cooking magazines into the recycle bin.

9. Snack on Sabra Hummus which, according to the label, now comes in Earth Friendlier Packaging.

bottle_wp_h65010. Drink a lot of water from your favorite reusable water bottle like my personal favorite, a KOR ONE Water Vessel.

Speaking of KOR ONE, this could be your lucky day!

Want to WIN a green KOR ONE Water Vessel? Then tell us one GREEN THING you are going to do this St. Patrick’s Day!

The contest will close on Thursday, March 18th and the winner will be announced on Friday.

Now I really must go try Dublin my water intake and subtractin’ my carbon footprint.

Stay At Home Shoppers

Last week I told you I was going to start a group called the Stay At Home Shoppers (SAHS) for people like me who like to shop in the comfort and joy of their own living room.

If you missed my first list of great gifts for the holiday season, click here and I’ll get you up to speed. Now it is time for the SAHS shopping spree #2. So here are the next 4 items on….

THE FIT LIST

IMG_6732Fitness & Spice Magazines

Fitness and food magazines are one of my guilty pleasures. I love keeping up with the latest fitness, food, and fashion that goes on around the healthy-living space. I think magazine subscriptions make great gifts because it’s like giving 12 gifts in one!

You know what? I don’t have a single magazine subscription. I pay full price for each and every magazine. That being said…

You might buy Fitness & Spice Magazines for: Me!, your other friends, your niece that loves to cook and loves Rachel Ray, your hard to buy for brother who takes everything back.

IMG_6607-1Mini Spatula

You know how I told you I wear pumpkin pajama bottoms all year round? Well, I use these mini winter-themed spatulas that Julie gave me all year round, too. These little guys are perfect for my stocking and are also perfect for scraping out cans of my beloved pumpkin puree and batter for homemade protein bars.

You might buy mini spatulas for: Your niece that loves to bake, a hostess gift (especially for your cookie exchange next week), a neighbor (maybe tied onto a plate of cookies), or me.

You can find similar spatulas at Sur La Table and other fabulous cooking supply stores.

IMG_6559 Valslides

I already have Valslides so you don’t need to get me another set ;-), but they will make fabulous gifts for a few people on my list and they would be great to find under a tree near you! I just told you about Valslides last week…let’s just say these little slides can give you a full body workout anytime, anywhere!

You might buy Valslides for: Yourself, your friends that travel a lot, anyone that likes to workout!

Pick up some Valslides at www.valslides.com.

kor oneKOR ONE Water Vessels

I wrote about KOR ONE Water Vessels a few months ago. I use my pink KOR One just about everyday. They are a water bottle with style!

You might buy KOR ONE Water Vessels for: Your mom, your sister, your friend that always forgets to bring water to the gym, your personal trainer, your workout partner, and yourself.

Shop www.korwater.com for your vessels.

Speaking of water, I really must go get a refill and hit the gym while I’m still full of the fitness spirit!
